Longkou LNG Receiving Terminal, Shandong, China

The first application of semi-underground storage tank and the largest sit-on-top storage tank in China, with a tank dome span of 88 meters and a lifting height of 44.5 meters.
Developed as a joint venture between PipeChina and Nanshan Group, the Longkou LNG Terminal is strategically located on Qilam Island, Longkou Harbor District, Yantai, Shandong Province. The facility is planned for a total capacity of 20 million tons per annum across three phases, comprising twenty storage tanks and four jetties.

Phase I will establish a 5 MTPA capacity with six 220,000-cubic-meter tanks and a jetty accommodating LNG carrier up to 266,000 cubic meters. Upon completion, the terminal will deliver 40 million cubic meters per day, supplying stable, clean energy to Shandong Province and the Bohai Rim economic zone.

HalcrowSea has provided comprehensive design review and optimization for the overall project, including independent verification calculations and specialist studies. Conducted preliminary and detailed design reviews for the receiving terminal and water intake/discharge facilities, addressing: document compliance, construction drawing deliverables, design basis documentation, design narratives, structural seismic calculations, etc. Delivered review comments, modification recommendations, and formal reports; established document control and records management systems; and supported the client in coordinating with government authorities for regulatory design review approvals.

Longkou LNG Terminal is a milestone project in Shandong Province's gas storage facilities planning and construction program. It will effectively alleviate the tense situation of natural gas supply in Shandong Province and even North China, promote the optimization and adjustment of energy structure.
