Doraleh Multi-Purpose Port, Djibouti

The new mult-purpose port will enhance the Djibouti as key center of refueling and transshipment in East Africa.

Port De Djibouti S.A. (PDSA) plans to build a new Multi-Purpose Port in Djibouti to improve and replace the current business development of the existing Djibouti port. Moreover, the traffic congestion in Djibouti downtown caused by the cargo transport of the existing port will be relived after the operation of the new port.

The Proposed new port will have 16 berths in the future, in which 7 berths will be constructed in the Phase I. The total length of main quay line of Djibouti Multipurpose Port (DMP) Phase I is 1,375m, accommodating for 7 berths including one 100,000DWT berth, three 20,000DWT berth, two 10,000DWT berths, and a service berth/vehicle Ro-Ro berth.

The yard of the port is arranged behind the terminal operation area. The proposed marine structure is designed and constructed with caissons on rubble-mound foundation. The design annual throughout capacity of the DMP (Phase I) is 7.08 million tons plus 200,000 TEUs.
