Mee Lin Gyaing Integrated LNG To Power Project, Myanmar

Marking 70 years of diplomatic relations, China and Myanmar are deepening energy cooperation to advance shared development goals.
Yunnan Energy Investment Group (YEIG), a leading Chinese energy enterprise, is developing an integrated LNG-to-Power project in Mee Lin Gyaing, Myanmar. The facility addresses Myanmar's critical power deficit—currently just 5,000 MW against a 2030 national target of 28,784 MW—removing a fundamental constraint on economic growth.

The LNG terminal is located adjacent to the gas power plant with designed capacity of 1.5 million t/y. It consists of LNG unloading system, 2 full containment concrete 160,000m³ LNG storage tanks, BOG handling system, gasification units, facilities, flare system, administrative buildings, etc.

HalcrowSea was retained to carry out design review of its FEED plus a series of specialist studies such as fire hazard analysis (FHA), quantitative risk assessment (QRA) and LNG tank volume optimization etc.

This landmark project deepens China-Myanmar cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, commemorating 70 years of diplomatic relations while strengthening bilateral energy ties and promoting shared economic development and regional energy security.
