CNPC Haikou LNG Receiving Terminal, Hainan, China

CNPC’s first operated LNG storage project, small but completed.
CNPC Hainan LNG Project, invested and constructed by Hainan CNPC Shennan Energy Co., Ltd., is strategically located in Haikou, which is the capital city of Hainan, China's southernmost province.

CNPC Hainan LNG Project covers an area of 431 acres consisting of LNG reserve (2 *20000 m3 LNG tanks, LNG unloading, storage, BOG compression and storage, CNG compressors, L-CNG refueling stations etc) and the LNG jetty could accommodate 40000 m3 LNG carrier. The main function of this project is to receive, store and export LNG. The stored LNG is filled into the LNG tanker through the filling system. The BOG vapor is compressed into underground CNG tube bundler and then transported it to city gas stations by CNG trucks and other non-pipeline industrial users which cannot be reached by pipeline gas.

HalcrowSea was retained to carry out 19 special studies from feasibility study to EPC stage, including process safety analysis, mooring analysis, downtime analysis, small LNG carrier and logistic study, LNG transshipping study etc.

As an island province with limited pipeline connectivity to the mainland's gas grid, Hainan faces unique energy security challenges, making this LNG project critical to diversifying the region's energy supply and supporting the province's transition to cleaner fuels.
